Central Japan, or the Chubu Region, is an area in the middle of Honshu, Japan’s main island. Consisting of 9 prefectures, this region has much to offer for the nature lovers!

Following this tour, you will be able to experience the famous Kurobe Alpine Route, where one takes up to 5 modes of transport to see the breathtaking snow wall in Springtime! Furthermore, you will be able to soak yourself in the heritage of Shirakawa-go village, labelled as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

[DAY 1 & 2] Singapore — Nagoya — Hida Takayama
Meal on Board
  • Arrive at Nagoya Airport via direct SQ flight from Singapore.
  • Depart from airport to Hida Takayama, a city in the mountainous Hida region of Gifu region. Takayama retains the traditional touch like few other Japanese cities, especially in its beautifully preserved old town.
  • Enjoy Hida Takayama Funasaka Sake Brewery. Sake is brewed in cold climate. Please enjoy the real taste of sake here.
  • Stop by the Takayama Jinya, a beautiful traditional Japanese style building, used to serve as Takayama's government office during Edo period.
  • Visit the Takayama Festival Float Exhibition Hall, where you can catch a glimpse into The Takayama Festival, held in Spring (April) and Autumn (October) - ranked one of Japan's three most beautiful festivals.

[DAY 3] Hida Takayama — Kanazawa
  • Today, visit the Miyagawa Morning Market, one of the biggest morning markets in Japan. Most stalls sell local crafts, snacks and farm products such as vegetables, pickles and flowers.
  • Then, we will move to the Village of Shirakawa-go, one of Japan's UNESCO World Heritage Sites which is well-known for their houses constructed in the architectural style known as gassho-zukuri. This Gassho-zukuri "prayer hands construction" style is characterized by a steep slanted thatched roof resembling two hands joined in prayer.
  • The other smaller attractions within the village are: Tenshukaku Observation Point, where a picturesque view of the Gassho Village can be seen; Wada Family Residence, a well-preserved house of the largest remaining Gassho styled house in the village that is now open to public as a museum; Myozen-ji, a temple with impressive transom carvings within the building and is designated as one of Gifu Prefecture's natural monuments; Deai Bridge, a special bridge that connects the Shirakawa-go to the outside villages.
  • Next, we will head over to Kenrokuen, which is justifiably classified as one of Japan's "three most beautiful landscape gardens".
  • Lastly, stop by the Kanazawa Castle, a large well-restored castle in Kanazawa.

[DAY 4] Kanazawa — Kurobe Alpine Route — Omachi/Matsumoto
  • This morning, visit the highlight of the tour - 90 km adventure of Tateyama - Kurobe Alpine Route.
  • Begin the Alpine route tour by bus and cable car as follows: Tateyama → Bijyodaira by Cable Railway; Bijyodaira → Midagahara → Tengudaira → Murodo by Highland Bus; *Lunch will be served in Bento style*; Murodo → Daikanbo by Tunnel Trolley Bus; Daikanbo → Kurobedaira by Ropeway; Kurobedaira → Lake Kurobe by Subway; Lake Kurobe → Kurobe Dam by walking; Kurobe Dam → Ogizawa by Train.
  • *Matsumoto Area Hotel or similar
[DAY 5] Omachi/Matsumoto — Okuhida
  • After breakfast, take the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway, the first double decker ropeway in Japan which also offers excellent view of Northern Japanese Alps.
  • Then, head to the Okuhida Bear Park, which houses Asian black bears. Here, you can also feed the bears and watch their polite gestures as they ask for food.
  • *Nakamurakan Hirayu Onsen or similar (Onsen)
[DAY 6] Okuhida — Nagoya
  • Depart for Tagata Shrine, the "Secret Shrine of Japan" symbolizing manhood.
  • Then, go on a shopping spree at a Branded Factory Outlet, where lots of international & Japanese branded items are on sale at discounted prices.
  • Finally, make a stop at JR Central Towers, where you can find Takashimaya department stores, shopping malls and JR Nagoya Station within the same location.

[DAY 7] Nagoya — Singapore
  • Today, bid farewell to Japan as we head to the airport for the flight back to Singapore.
